Belgian broadcasters launched mobile TV app 'Stievie' for 10,000 Flemings to test

10,000 Flemings will be able to test Stievie the upcoming months on their iPhone and iPad. Stievie is an application that is developed with Vinson, as a joint project of the three major broadcasters in Flanders, VRT, VMMa and SBS Belgium. The application includes ten Flemish TV channels to watch live and on-demand. During the test phase there will be examined how people use Stievie and what improvements may be possible. Afterwards will be considered how and when the app will be made available to all Flemings.

Stievie is an initiative from the three major Belgian broadcaster that invest in innovation and respond to changing viewer needs in a digitizing world, by providing a new television experience. The application is developed with the next generation mobile TV solution Vinson by Triple IT and enables viewers to watch more of the Flemish high quality programs, on different screens and whenever they want.

Test Stievie

During the test period, a test audience of 10,000 persons will receive the following ten Flemish channels: A, VTM, FOUR, Canvas, 2BE, FIVE, Vitaya, JIM, Ketnet/OP12. These channels can be watched live or even on-demand, for broadcasts up to 36 hours before. The application is easy to use and includes a complete set of features, such as social media integration that enables users to share TV moments or join Twitter conversations right away from the app. Interested owners of an iPhone or iPad that want to use the test version of Stievie for at least four months, can register on www.stievie.be. Based on the feedback and input from the test audience they will review how and when the app will be made available to all Flemings.
